Age Group & Competition Categories

This event follows the World Obstacle age and competition classifications:

  • Elite (Top-tier competitive athletes)

  • Youth A (10-15 years)

  • Junior (16-19 years)

  • Open/Senior (20-39 years)

  • Masters (40-59 years)

  • Veterans (60+ years)

  • Adaptive (Multiple categories available for athletes with disabilities)

    Minimum Age: 10 years

Managed by: Each country’s National Federation

We will also be running an under 10’s age group category with an adapted course.

  • The Course

    The OCR 100m Sprint is a high-intensity race that challenges athletes to navigate a 100-meter course featuring 12 standardized obstacles. This format emphasizes speed, agility, and precision, requiring competitors to execute a nearly flawless run to achieve top times.

    At Aotearoa Toa's upcoming event at Flow Academy, we are excited to bring this exhilarating experience to New Zealand. While we'll be making some adjustments to fit the course into our space, the essence of the 100m OCR will remain intact. Athletes can anticipate a sequence of back-to-back obstacles designed to test their physical and mental prowess in a fast-paced environment.

    The 12 standard obstacles and structures are (in order):

    • Starting platform

    • (1) Offset Steps

    • (2) Mini trampoline and Monkey Bars

    • (3) 1.5 m Wall

    • (4) Balance Beam

    • (5) Wheels

    • (6) 2.0 m Wall

    • (7) Island Steps

    • (8) Rings

    • (9) Low Crawl

    • (10) Climbing Holds

    • (11) Tarzan Swing

    • (12) Wave Wall and Finish platform

  • Competition Format

    Practice Session: Athletes will have designated times to familiarise themselves with the course, allowing them to strategise and prepare for the qualifying runs.

    Qualifying Runs: Each participant will complete two timed runs on the course. The fastest time from these runs will be used to determine advancement.

    Elimination Rounds: Based on qualifying times, athletes will progress through the following stages depending on participant entries:

    Quarterfinals

    Semifinals

    Finals

    Advancement will be determined by the fastest times in each round, culminating in the final race to decide the winners.

    Athletes will compete within their respective age groups throughout the event. Age group classification is determined by the athlete's age on December 31st of the competition year.

    Qualification for the New Zealand Team

    This event serves as a pathway for athletes aspiring to represent New Zealand at the World Championships in Sweden. Outstanding performers in each age group will be considered for selection to the national team, based on their performance and adherence to selection criteria established by the national federation.

    We encourage all participants to seize this opportunity to showcase their skills and potentially earn a spot on the New Zealand team. Detailed information regarding the selection process and criteria will be provided during the event.
